I’ve just completed a major database update for 1936… it’s taken the best part of a month to complete as all the 800+ images had to be scanned individually on a flatbed to avoid damaging the original publications for batch processing.
It’s been interesting to note the number of companies issuing series of themed adverts.. Examples include ‘Victor Vacuum’s Open Letters’ for Mobiloil and Layden’s cartoons for the ‘Dependable Rudge.’
All in all it’s been a particularly interesting process for the quality and diversity of the adverts.
I write this on what is likely to be the hottest day of the year, whilst I appreciate the warmer weather, at 35C it’s too much for me, so I’ll make a start on the next batch of updates – 1954 I think.
